Anti-Aging Dentistry

When my friend first used the term “Anti-Aging Dentistry”, I thought it sounded strange. Then I thought more and realized that’s exactly what I provide!

My goal is the total absence of dental disease for every person in my practice. I’m dedicated to the prevention of dental disease, deterioration, and facial aging associated with the loss of teeth and function.

I want you to become as healthy as you choose to be. This means preventing all dental break-down; dental decay, periodontal disease, tooth wear, and tooth loss.

Four Questions will help you determine if a HEALTH FIRST approach is right for you:

1. Would you rather have insurance to pay for gum surgery or prevent the need for surgery in the
   first place?
2. Would you rather pay for 4 root canals, ($4,000 to $10,000) or not need the root canals at all?
3. Would you rather have insurance to pay for 30% of four crowns or have prevented the need for the crowns in the first place?
4. Would you prefer to pay $12,000 for three implants and crowns to replace missing teeth or have prevented the loss of these three teeth?

Dental decay and gum disease, two of the most common chronic degenerative diseases are highly preventable, as are all “lifestyle” diseases.

Still today, insurance-driven traditional medicine and dentistry are focused on the treatment of disease, rather than prevention. The costs of disease treatment escalates, when, in reality, the cheapest form of medical or dental insurance is preventing disease from occurring at all!

Dentists should accept that gum disease and dental decay are a failure of our dental health system. Gum disease and decay are nearly 100% preventable through proper maintenance and nutrition by the patient. (Sugar, it turns out, does more than just damage to teeth – it is a prime instigator of diabetes, heart disease, and a host of other chronic degenerative diseases.)

With prevention of disease as our prime goal, we can create partnerships in health, and increase longevity and quality of life. A 62 year old healthy person has a longevity span of 92 in today’s culture!
